After several months of negotiations, an agreement was signed between Grandi Stazioni Retail, the Campania Region and the trade unions to manage the employment impact linked to the modernisation plan of Naples Central Station.
At the centre of the dispute was the closure of the Burger King outlet operated by the concessionaire CIGAR 1, which had seen over thirty employees in a state of permanent assembly since October 2025. CIGAR 1 was assisted by NIUS Studio Legale, with employment lawyers Alessandro Paone and Antonio Orsini, handling both industrial relations and institutional engagement, and defining the strategic framework for the protection of employees.
The agreement provides for the activation of wage supplementation schemes due to business cessation for all employees, a key measure aimed at supporting the transition phase and mitigating the social impact of the closure. It also provides for the immediate handover of the retail unit. In order to ensure ongoing monitoring of employment developments related to the station’s redevelopment, a permanent monitoring committee will be established. Finally, Grandi Stazioni Retail has formally committed to supporting the continued employability and redeployment of former CIGAR 1 employees through new commercial opportunities within the railway hub.
Through this transaction, NIUS Studio Legale further confirms its position as a trusted advisor in complex corporate restructuring processes and industrial relations matters.
